OAMARU HOSPITAL.

The regular monthly meeting of the Hospital Committee was held last evening, when there were present—Messrs. Shrimski (in the chair), Lemon, Headland, Montagu, Dunn, Christie, and Church (Secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting having been confirmed, the following report from the Visiting Committee (Messrs. Headland, Christie, and Dunn) was read and approved : —" Your Committee has pleasure in reporting that on paying their usual visit to the Hospital they found everything in a satisfactory condition. The fever ward, being now free from patients, has been cleaned out and thoroughly disinfected. All the repairs and alterations authorised have been completed. At the present time there is only one patient in the Hospital. The warder has handed to the secretary the effects of the late Daniel Wright, consisting of one silver Geneva watch, and 10s in cash. (His clothes were destroyed). The deceased's brother has paid the funeral expenses, and a claim has been forwarded to the Waimate County Council for expenses incurred in the case. When the Hospital was so full of patients, the insufficiency of the cooking apparatus was very manifest, and your Committee intended to have brought the matter before you, and to suggest the propriety of procuring a good range with highpressure boiler, and the necessary stonework to insure its efficient working, and they would suggest that the present time, when the Hospital is all but empty, would be a good time to make the alteration. The thanks of the Committee are due to the following ladies and gentlemen for . the various gifts presented to the Hosp l Hi, as follows—Mrs. Clowes, two lots of illustrated papers ; Mrs. Thomas Meek, one case of oranges, and a lot of old lined ; Mr. Thomas Falconer, a bed rest. This is a very useful article for the use of patients requiring to be supported in a reclining position. Mr. E. W. Roxby, a quantity of books and periodicals." The Treasurer's report, showing a small balance in the bank, and the Collector's statement were read. Accounts to the amount of L 59 3s 3d were passed for payment. The out-going Visiting Committee were re-appointed for another quarter. The Committee then rose.
