THE LABOR MARKET. Mr. 11. Mackintosh report# for the week ending May 17th, as follows :—The demand for afi classes of labor has improved very much during the week, farm and station hands being fairly enquired for, and nom- ' hers meeting with engagements, but still a great number are idle. Of female servants there, is still a scarcity. Men cooks are scarce, and day labor pretty well employed. Mechanics of all ctasaes are also plenty of work. Numbers of Taboring men are employed at the grain stores, the port, and the railway, loading a rut anloading. at remunerative wages.; hut there are stilt a great many idle.
