[FROM OCK OWN iJOKKE.SI'ONDEfTT.J DUNEDIN. May 15. Messrs. Cargills, Gibbs, and Co. have received a telegram on the wool market, dated London, May 12, which says the tone of the markets is very firm, and the prices unchanged. One hundred and seven applications have been lodged for new licenses. A trial crushing at the Lady Fayre reef, Arrow, yielded at the rate of nearly three ounces of gold per ton.

G'HEISTCH URCH. May 15. Jacob Togt, charged with forging and uttering n promissory note on Elias Fuchs, Wellington Hotel, for L 22 103, has been remanded till to-morrow. W. Power, 15 years old, with several aliases, was charged with stealing a gold chain and locket. Hie property of Mr. Edward GribMe. The robbery was committed in a boarding house. On information being given to the detective, the boy was arrested, but in the meantime he had pledged the chain for 355, and had spent the money. He told the police that he had been brought from Dunedin by four men to commit robberies. Inspector Hickson said, however, that the real name of the boy was William Power, son of a carter in Dunedin, and formerly employed as message boy in the office of the Otago Daily Times. He had been convicted of forgery, and liberated on his father s recoguisance to come up for sentence when called upon, on account of his youth. The Magistrate said the lad had had his chance and abused it, otherwise he would summarily have disposed of the case. Prisoner was committed for trial. The body of the man who fell or jumped into the river last evening was found this morning, about 150 yards below the Madras-street Bridge. Deceased is supposed to be a man named Hudson, but the body has not yet been identified as snch. He was, apparently, a laboring man, about middle aged, sft. 7in- high, and dressed in a tweed suit. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
