The party met at Dunne's Bridge, and for an hour searched in vain for any signs of hares. Ledgerkeeper and Bungay then got sight. Ledgerkeeper had all the best of the course, and though the hare got away, he was decided winner. Game was still scarce, and a move was made two miles further on, to Lockhart's farm, where four of the little animals were put up quickly. Scaldings and Juliet ran a no course, and on their being slippc4 again, the slut took possession, scoring rapidly. Scaldings killed, but Juliet was declared the winner. Honeydew and Richmond put up a wounded hare, and killed, but the judge's verdict was no course. Tasman and Chester ran a no course, the hare being killed quickly, but the dogs were out of sight. Then ensued more hare hunting, but alter a long search, two hares were put up in a turnip field. Tpsman and Chester got in and k'Ued one, while a strange dog c 7; sposed of the other. The vexatious search for passy was continuing t'U abreast ClarksviUe. The spot* wfts teiiioly blow. Legerkeeper beat Bungay, and Juliet beat Scale 1 : ogs. the winner of the Oamaru Waterloo C up, was scratched, so Leo scores a bye. At half-past 2, after everybody was tired out looking for hares, three were put up one after another very quickly. Tasirw beat Chester, Richmond beat Honeydew,

and Briton beat Essendon. These three courses were run in 14 minutes, each hare beilig started out of the same watercourse.
