GREYMOUTH. March 30. The inquest on the fire resulted in a verdict that the fire originated in the Union Bank, and, as shown by evidence, was caused by the faulty construction of the kitchen chimney. IXVERC'AKGILL. March 30. Father Hennebery opened one of his missions at the Catholic Church this morn - ing. Hi 3 address chiefly had reference to the uses and benefits of such missions. At the conclusion of his address he urged his hearers not to believe the mendacious tele-jrams that had been sent by the Press Association. He believed that if they attended hi 3 mission they would say he was not that firebrand he had been made out to be. Considerable dissatisfaction is expressed here at the action of the-Government in making Lumsden the starting point of the Martroa railway instead of Dipton. It is said the flying survey to decide as to which <>f the two routes was the most suitable was a complete farce. It is loudly proclaimed that the Minister of orks is working in the interests of Dtinedin in the matter. Mai'eh 31. The 11-'inan Catholic Church was crowded vrsterduv to hear Father Hennebery s !ctf_'thv sermon on the objects of his mission. The services will continue three Eiiii'.-s a day all the week. The weather is broken and showery.
