THE RAILWAY EMPLOYEES PICNIC.
I The railway employes' animal picnic vil] j take place to-morrow, at Hampden. 'J'he I party of employes, accompanied by their ! wives, families, and friends, will l eav6 | Oamaru by train at 9 a.m. The Dunediu j employes will leave the city at 8.1,'>, and j will meet the Oamaru contingent %\ Hampdon. The bands belonging to the Dunediu and Oamaru sections will give evidence of their vigorous existence, ani\ make the trip pleasant by playing lively music. On the ground there will be ail kinds of sports, under the management of a combined committee, and prizes will bo awarded to the victors in the variouj classes. The affair will be one of th» most important of the kind that has ever occurred in the Colony, in point of numerousattendance—which will probably oxceed 1000—and everything connected therewith. The organisation is perfect, and reflects great credit on those who are its authors. The idea of having an annual treat of this kind is an admirable one for social as well as other important reasons, and, to Mr. Conyers, Mr. Back, and Mr. Grant is duo great praise for tno encouragement, and assistance they have accorded in its institution and maintenance.
