MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Municipal Council was held last evening, when there were present - 11 is Worship the Mayor, Councillors <" bbs, Headland, Humphrey, Mainland, and Procter. A letter having been received from Mr. IT. Mackintosh, asking permission to place a sign-board over the pathway at the door of his office in Tyne-strcet. the Clerk was directed to reply that permission was not liccassary, but thai no sign-boards were allowod to project over the footpath.
Mr. Connell forwarded draft conditions under which the Council acquire the right of entering upon the reservoir works through Mr. Calcutt's property. After some amendment, the conditions were adopted. A plan of the Maerewhenua endowment prepared b3 r Messrs. Dennison and Grant, was laid upon the tableland Councillors fiibba and 'Procter, with the Engineer, were appointed a committee to visit the land and report as to the best mode of dealing with it. The Resident Engineer wrote ; intimating that the Government had sanctioned the formation of the street diversion in Isis-streel from the junction of Till and.lsis streets to join Isia-streot ;'gain at section o, block XC. A- oopy of tT.G estimate of the work was also forwarded, Tenders for various works in connection with the Waterworks were opened, and referred to a committee consisting of the Mayor and Councilor Mainland, with the Engineer, with power to accept tenders. The Council then rose.
