NORTH OTAGO RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
The February competition by members of this Association, was commenced at the headquarters range this morning, when 15 marksmen competed. The ranges were 400 and CGO yavds, with seven shots at each, in any position. The weather was calm, but dull, -while the smoke from the rifles which accumulated during the firing niade |t difficult to see the target, especially at the long range: Notwithstanding this drawback, some good scores were made, Sub-Lieut. Morris, who is banning to fire more in his accustomed acouracy, leading the list R. Harding wfta second with 47, Captain and Sergeant Clark following with 46 each. Another squad fixed this
afternoon. The weather at the 400 yards range was all could be desired; but afterwards a strong gusty wind, with clouds of dust, made good shooting difficult Mr. Rule made the good score of 48 The following are the scores, with the points allowed in the handicap :
