RIFLE COMPETITION.
The No. 1 Company commenced its match for company prizes this morning, the first range (200 yards) having been completed by a squad of twenty-one men. Another squad is to fire this afternoon. The conditions under which the match is proceeding arc—Ranges 200, 400, and 500 yards, ten shots at each ; Wimbledon targets ; anv position ; one range being taken on each firing day. A number of the members have been allowed handicap points, some having as high as IS, which will be added to their scores when the match is finished. The weather this J morning was everything that could be de- ! sired, and tin.- scoring was in consequence ! good.' Vol. 11. Harding made the grand score of 37 out of a possible 40, striking I the 8-inch bull's-eye seven consecutive times. Sergt. King, Sub-Lieut Morris, ! and Vol. A. Hardy were close up with 30 ! each, the former finishing with five couI secutive buU's-eyes. The marking was [ creditably performed by Staff-Sergeant i .AM'hersoii.
