OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held yesterday, at which there were present —Messrs. Anderson (Chairman), A. Marshall, Henderson, Falconer, Ross, M'Donald, and Gr. Marshall. The minutes of the last meeting were adopted as read and the outward correspondence was read and approved. The following letters were read and considered :

From Mr. Burnett, engineer, offering to gravel the road to the railway goodsshed provided the Board would bear half the cost: but the road not being a public highway the Board had no power to agree to the proposition. The Clerk was accordingly instructed to write to Mr. Grant, General Manager of Railways, stating the urgency of the case, and also the necessity for the erection of cattle and and sheep yards. From the Under-Secretary for Public Works, asking for a description of the proposed road at Breakneck, and a statutory declaration by the Chairman or Clerk. These were ordered to be furnished.

Re footbridge at Breakneck, Messrs. Ross, Henderson, and M'Donald were appointed to wait on Mr. Cooper, with power to act. The contractors for contract No. 64 having failed to take it up, the offer of of Mr. Johnston at LlO5 was accepted. Three accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
