A meeting was held in the Cave Valley School last! night, for the purpose of advocating temperance. The meeting was conducted by the Upward and Onward Lodge of Team-raki, Bvo. Jordan. W.f.T.. in theeha'f. .V number of the tiond Templars of Teaneraki put in sui appearance, but a few who were expected from Oaiuaru did not come, so fhat the onus of providing amusement for .those present felt upon the members of the. "I imcntki Lodge. Owing to the copious rain that had fallen previously, ttie roads uoi-o muddy, and the audience was not so 'larftu as it otherwise would have been ; but •those who did eonio were well pleased with tueeVKuiug's amusement, which consisted of swgs. readings, addresses, recitatious.. and musical sections. The January match of the North Otago Rifle Association wilt take- place on Saturday next, at the usual hour. Entries will be received at Mr. Rule's shop, until $ o'clock to-morrow evening.
Fatima, " the greatest illusion oS the age," has returned to Oamaru. and the proprietor intends to reveal the art by which she appears to be what she is not. Tins should hare the effect of inducing the curious to visit this novel exhibition.
