The time of the transmit by railway between Wellington and Peatherstone is to be reduced by forty minutes after the new year. < « CHRISTCHURCH. December 14. The entire Star and Garter and eight mares and fillies, all Clydesdales, the property of Mr. J. C. Williamson, of Auckland, to which place they were to go, were landed yesterday at Lyttelton, from the ship Mallowdale. They are in splendid condition. Several laud sales held here lately have not been a success. A period of depression in that line seems to have set in.
