MEETING OF THE PRESBYTERY.

The quarterly meeting of the Presbytery of Oamaru met at St. Paul's Church this afternoon. There were present —Revs. Todd (Moderator), Steven, Cameron, Rylty, Baird, Christie, and Clark (Ministers), and Messrs. Allan, Strachan, and Jackson (Elders). The Rev. Mr. Chisholm, of Tokomairiro, being present, was associated. The Rev. Mr. Stevens reported that he visited the Upper Waitaki, and found tilings on a whole in a satisfactory state, and °recoiamendo.d that the present arrangement should be continued, A letter was read from Mr. Gilbert, asking for a shorty rest ,_on ££coimt Sfetffc Mr. Gilbert to rest for a month.

All overture to the Synod, asking that steps be taken to get more Ministers to supply our growing wants was agreed to ; also, one recommending that the supplements given to Ministers, the extent of glebe attached to each manse, be published in the proceedings of the Synod. The resolution of St. Paul's Session asking assistance for a building which could be used for a Sabbath School in the south end of the town, and which also might be used for beginning a preaching station, was referred back to the Session and Managing Committee for further consideration with a view to oncourage them to foster a second charge. A Committee consisting of the Revs. Messrs.' Todd, Ryley, Cameron, and Messrs. Allan and Jackson was appointed to examine, and if satisfied, sanction the plans for the Waiareka Manse.

The Presbytery then adjourned till the 11th March, the next meeting to take place at Otepopo.
