Another 'Special. ' The Municipal Council held a special meeting to-day, when there were present—his Worship the Mayor, and Councillors, G-ibbs, Procter, Mainland, Headland, Familton," Liddle, and Humphrey. The Council, as agreed at last night's meeting, proceeded to inspect Mr. Morton's property in Reed-street, in reference to his complaint of an encroachment. It was decided that a panel should be left open on the south side of the fence so as to g've access to the pmperty from Reed-street, and that a letter should be sent to Mr. Morton's solicitors stating that the Council was advised that there had been no alteration whatever in the level of Reed-street; that as regarded the alleged grievance of an encroachment, the Council had visited the ground in a body, and could not see anything to complain of ; and that as regarded the fence, it was necessarily erected for the safety of the public ; but that the Council had no desire to cut off access to Mr. Morton's property, and would therefore cause a panel to be opened at the south end of the fence. A letter from Mr. Booth, Secretary to the Oamaru Stone Company, stating that the section pegs of the quarry reserve in section 4, block VI., were reported to be incorrectly placed, and asking for the correct boundaries, was referred to the Engineer to give the necessary information.
