England sends reinforcements to India, in consequence of Russian ma.iw.uivres affecting Afghanistan. September 27. British troops are massing rapidly. SO.OGO are in Punjab, at Mooltan, and 6000 at Kohet. The Government is acting energetically. The garrison at Quittat has been reinforced. The natives near the Khyber Pass are friendly. The sickness at Cyprus is frightful. Five hundred troops are in hospital. An explosion at the St. Gothard tunnel killed and injured 140 people.
