STUD SHEEP.

The Hon. Robert Campbell h,aa very wisely taken such action ns will secure Hie further improvement of his own flocks and, we hope, the flocks of other wool growers in this district. We allude to (he late importation by that gentleman of 15 ewes and 4 rams. The- first-mentioned were selected from the celebrated stud liock of Mr. W. L. Curry, of Lara, and the last-mentioned were chosen by three of the best judges m Victoria—Messrs. Todd (of Goidsborough and Co.), Peter M'Kellar (formerly a runholder in South* bind), and Mr. M'Piierson (also a large Victorian runhokler). They cost upon an average L.IQO each, tlie prices ranging from LilQ to L 75, and are the progeny of Champion. We are indebted to the catalogue of the sale for the following infor- ' mation regarding this celebrated animal : Champion was bred by Mr. Cumming, Mount Fyans, and is numbered 48 in the Mount Fyans Stud Book. His dam was an Australian merino ewe which took the champion prize at Skipton in 1870 as best ewe in the yards. His sire was a ram purchased from Messrs. T. and S. Learmonth, Ercildoune, which was shown by Cumming, at Skipton, in 1804, and was awarded the champion prize far best ram of any age in the show yard. Champion was only exhibited once, viz., at Skipton in 18,75, as a 4-tooth, when he was awarded the first prize in his class, and was the best of the three that won the A. M. It- and Finance Company's cup, given for the best three 4-tooth rams ex-

hibited. He was also placed second-best ram of any age in the show yards. The sheep were conveyed to their destination last night by train.
