OAMARU HOSPITAL.

<» The monthly meeting of the Hospital Committee was held last evening, when there v.'ere present—Messrs. T. H. Brown (President), Headland, Kerr, Montagu, and Peterson. The minutes of the last meeting having been read and confirmed and the outward correspondence read and approved, accounts to the amount of L 49 15s. 4d. were passed for payment. The following repo/rt of the Visiting Committee was read and adopted : Your Committee have to report that they this day visited the Institution, and, acpompanied hy the Warder, went through all the wards and found everything jn excellent order.

There are at present nine male patients in the Hospital. Your Committee were pleased to find the female ward empty.

Your Committee are informed that there is a likelihood of the gas mains being laid down in that part of Eden-street adjoining the Hospital, and they venture to recommend that, as soon as this is done, pipes should be laid on to the Hospiial buildings. Your Committee beg to submit accounts aggregating L 49 15s. 4d. Your Committee have much pleasure in acknowledging the following donations to the Institution, viz.: illustrated papers from' Mr. C. S. Allen, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Mrs. Clowes, and Mr. J. A. Douglas, of the Upper Waitaki, Six bibles

and one testament, from the Otago Bible, Tract, and Book Society. Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, from Mr. James Allan ; and a parcel of clothing from Mr. Borton.— We are, etc., Alex. Kerr, D. S. Montagu, Jas. Patekson, Convener. The thanks of the Committee were accorded to Mr. William Sutherland, of Livingstone, and the gentlemen who assisted him, for their efforts in getting up an entertainment at that township in aid of the Hospital, by which L 6 7s. 6d. was realised. The collector's report showed that the total amount collected during the month was LlO 3s. The meeting terminated with the customary vote of thanks to the chairman.
