Germany proposes that common action by the Powers should be taken to make the Porte execute the treaty stipulations. England an Italy have consented contingent upon the other contracting Powers also agreeing. (SPECIAL TO THE PRESS AGENCY.)
London, September 9. 503 bodies have been recovered from the Princess Alice disaster.
A Calcutta telegram to the Times, dated Bth inst., states that it is reported as probable that the Duke of Buckingham has been appointed Governor of Victoria. September 10. The Australians are playing against the Gentlemen of England at Scarborough. The Australians' first innings closed for 157. Of the gentlemen, two are out for 76.
The following are the scores made in the Australians' first innings :—A. Bannerman, 0; Spofforth, 16 (both bowled by Steele) ; C.
