There has been a great rush of ticketsfor the banquet to-night, and the Mayoi has been compelled to be exclusive in consequence of the limited accommodation. The through train starts at six o'clock to-morrow morning. The Mayor and City Council will accompany the party through. s, = v >'-' : | At the banquet last night the Hon. John Hall, in proposing the toast oi ■ " The Promoters of Railways," coupled the name of Vogel with Moorl.ouse. Tht members of the Press are very indignant at the shabby way in which they wert treated. They were crowded like a lot ol sheep in the gallery with the band, where they remained three hours without the slightest notice being taken of them in the way of refreshments or otherwise. " The Press," too, strangely enough was omitted from the toast list. * TIMARU. September 6. Through the train from Christchurch to Dnnedin only staying here about ha'f an hour instead of 40 minutes, as previously arranged, several M.H.R.'s 'and othei celebrities are left behind, although informed by the Premier and AttorneyGeneral that the train would stay 40 minutes here. AUCKLAND. September 5. After a short stay at the Waiwera Springs, Chief Justice Prendergast leaves for the South to hold the Circuit Court at Hobitika. There is a movement here to initiate the formation of a Tattersalls' Club to protect betting men. * WELLINGTON. September 5. The Gazette to-night notifies the ap poiutinent of Messrs D. C.
