COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

ENGLISH COMMKUOIAL. Meßars. Miles, Bros., and Co. report under date London, July 18th, 1878, as follows : wool. Since tho close of tho May, June, and July scries there have been some enquiries for good combing Australian merino wool, and also for Cape fleeces and Natal grease at closing rates of la-t sales, but only a very limited quantity of wool has changed hands. Tho third series of Antwerp ivoul auctions opened on the 16th instant, and will last nine days. There was a full attendance of buyers, composition was spi it.ed, and prices rules at 5 to 10 commies, or id to Id per lb. over tho dopresscd May auction rates. WHKAT AND FLOUR. In consequence of the favorable adjustment of t'o Eastern difficulty, the feeling in the market has become more settled, and with a good demand from France, owing to tho unsatisfactory report of the new crop there, prices have slightly hardened, American and Russian wheat being 2s per quarter, and Australian and New Zealand Is per quarter doarer. Although the French demand is likoly to continue, we do not anticipate any considerable reaction in prices, for, notwithstanding the American supplies have lately fallen off, yet the reports of their now cr"p give promise of great abundance, and with a continuance of the hoi weather we are now experiencing, our n-w wheat will probably bo freely offered in about a month's timo. Tho price obtained for the last arrived cargo of Australian wheat was 49s 3d for 480lbo gross c if., for an Irish port. On the apot values aro lor Australian wheat, ex ship, 4i)s to 49s 6d per 4961bs ; and ex store, f>ls to 51s Cd. Now Zealand, ex store, 43s to 495. Australian Hour, ex store, 29s to 35s per 2«olbs ; and New Zealand do., ex utore, 28s to 325. TALLOW ANT) HIDES. Tho tallow miirkot has been firm, but the business done limited. The present value of good to fino New Zealand mutton is 33s Sd to 39s 6*d, and fair to fine beef tallow 35s to 36s 9d, being an advance on the former (owing to scarcity) of Is, and on tho latter of 3d por cwt. Tho stock of Australian tallow, first hands, is now largo, over 6150 casks. Tho hide market is a shade firmer, without alteration on late rates, viz., 4.kl to 4sd for best heavy, and 3sd to 3Jd per lb. for light ox and cow.
