WAIAREKA ROAD BOARD.

The adjourned annual and ordinary meeting of the above Board was held this day at the offices in Tyne-street. There were present Messrs John Reid (in the chair), Gilchrist, Isdaile, Evans, Menlove, and Jackson. The minutes of the last ordinary and special meetings were read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence read and approved. A letter from Dr. Webster was read, enclosing a contribution of LIOO towards formation of road line in Block 111., Kauroo district. A letter was read from the Waitaki Road Board asking the Board to re-con-sider its decision re contributing half the cost of formation of Boundary-road in block IV., Awamoko District.—Resolved, that the.Board regrets that it cannot see its way to alter the decision previously arrived at. A letter was read from Mr. R. Oliver, Corriedale, asking for assistance in building a bridge over the Waiaruka Creek. It was resolved that the Board cannot see its way to comply with the request. The Engineer's report was read, accompanied with plans and specifications for an approach road to Mr Joseph Lees'. It was resolved that tenders be called, to be in by next meeting. A report was read from the Inspector, and it was ordered that he be empowered to expend Lls on road line in Section 21, Block V., Awamoko district. Certain extras on Cimtraot 63 were on the recommendation of the Inspector, approved of. Owen Sullivan and Co.'s tenders for contracts 62 and 65 were accepted at LBO 19s 2d and L 113" 2s 6d. Notice was given of an intention to levy a general rate of Is. in the £ for the current year. _ The Board next proceeded to the consideration of the balanoe sheet and annual statement of accounts. These showed an improvement in the financial position of the district as compared with the previous year. The balance sheet was adopted. Mr. J. Reid was re-elected Chairman, and Mr. J. T. Evans Treasurer, and votes of thanks were recorded to these gentlemen for their services in the past year. Accounts to the amount of L 35 lis Gd having been passed for payment, the Board rose.
