NATIVE DISTURBANCES.
Maketu, August 6. Yesterday morning, on opening the Itauds Court, after two days' adjournment to give the natives time to send in their names for certificates for the Paenganoa block lately passed by the Court and awarded to several hapus, the Taupaka and Ngatipakowai hapus, headed by Te Topaka,. all armed with spears and other weapons, took possession of the Courthouse, and placed an armed guard atSy'-S door to prevent other hapus from entering and giving their names for certificates. In the judgment given last week, the Taupaka were excluded and the Ngatii pakowai awarded a portion, but denied the whole block, hence these obstructions. On the judys culling for names for certificates a groat disturbance occurred, the natives trying to, intimidate by a display of weapons, but to no purpose. A Ngatipak'v.;ii launched . his spear at a native policeman who was trying to restore order. The policeman, happily avoidvd it, otherwise serio.ua consequences would have en-suc-d. L-ist week a Ngatipakowai witness was assaulted while giving evidence. Three large blocks lately passed the Court, on.which the Government have advanced
