(Pee Wakatipu.) Sydney, July 20. Walker, the trance medium, who Lately visited New Zealand, is creating a favorable impression in Sydney. Melbourne, July 19. The New Guinea Colonisation Society has taken steps to obtain a charter from the Netherlands and Indian Government to settle in New Guinea. A nugget of 18 ounces has been found at Rokewood. Sir Arthur Gordon in replying to a deputation from the Polynesian Society in reference to their land claims at Fiji, said that while the British Government would not recognise them as having any legal rights, that each, claim would be investigated on its own merits, and as a matter of equity alone some might be I entitled to recognition. Splendid coal has been found at Colac, the seam being 16 inches in width. !
