(from our own correspondent.) * Dunedin. July 6. The following special cablegram has been received by the Star : —• London, July 5. The following are the averages of the Australian bowlers in eight matches, and of the five highest batting averages in the first six matches. The highest batting average was made by Midwinter with 2S for nine innings ; Bailey, 2G ; Garrett, 20 ; C. Bannerman, 1!) ; Spoll'orth, 18. The three best average bowlers are— Garrett, with one wicket for every three runs ; Spofforth, one wicket for four runs ; Boyle, one wicket for live runs.
