The last division of profit* took place in 1574, and the cash surplus then divided amounted to £235,000, giTinij additions to policies averaging £3 per cent, per annum on the sum assured. The bonuew paid on policies becoming claims htve varied from £ls per cent, on the gum assured for a policy of five years standing to £l5O per cent, for one o: twenty-five years' duration. Bonuses become vested additions to policies when they have been iull five years in force.
