A le ; 'er <:i<iressed to his Worship the Mayor was read from Mr. Post, clerk to t-ne Paiuierslon Uorotigh Council, inquiring whether an arrangement could be made for the Hospital to receive patients from L'almerstoii on the warrant of the Mayor of that borough, and if so, on what, terms they would be received. Some discussion took place upon tl#e subject, and it was decided to reply to the ellect that the Committee did not see its w.ty in t ike any action in the matter. There are ten patients now in the Hospital. Mr. Carrol, who had his leg amputated about a fortn gilt ago, though still weak, is progressing la', or di-y. Tlie new room for the assistant matron in now completed, and appears to answer admiral. ly the purpose for which it was built. '.i he thorn hedge surrounding the grounds is being cut to keep it in order. Your Visiting Committee have further to roport that an offer has been rooeived for a fence with three wires, with stabs li'ffc. apart, to protect the quick fence while ifc is still young, at lis per chain, to supply everything.
The Visiting Committee submit the accounts for the mouth, amounting to L7O 8a 91. On the motion of Mr. Headland, tho report was adopted, with the exception of that portion which referred to wire fencing. This matter was ordered to lie over f if the present. The Chairman having intimated that Mr. 2>!ackbttrtie had resigned his position as a member of the Committee in coiisu (pience of his leaving the district, it wa decided to request Mr. .!>. S. Mo litagu to lill the vacancy and act in Mr. Black hurne's place as a member of tho Visiting Commit tee. The plans for the proposed enlargement of ihe, Hospital, as prepared by the Subcommittee, were laid upon tho table by Mr. Lemon, and the list of tenders received for the work was read. Some little discussion with regard to ways and means took place, but it was ultimately decided to accept the following tenders :—Mason's work, Messrs. Wilson, Koxburgh, ami Co., Ll<>(> 10s. ; carpenter's work, Mr. Bain, LUD. The President and Messrs. Lemon and Mainland were appointed a Committee to superintend the work. Accounts to the amount of L 72 ,'te. Bd. were passed for payment, and the Committee shortly afterwards adjourned.
