The whole number of offences for 1877 show a considerable decrease compared with the return for 1876. TIMARTJ. •June 13. The adjourned sitting of the Supreme Court took place to-day. Richard Bell I pleaded guilty to stealing 8-.t lamhs and 1 ewes, the property of J. Taylor. There were two other charges against the prisoner, but the Crown Prosecutor offered no evidence. The Judge deferred sentence. In the case of Alexander Bell, nhanjed with, intent to murder J. J. Ivngsk-y, the jury returned a verdict of •"'uilty of dischaging some sort of firearm at"prosecutor with intent to do him some grevious bodily harm, though there is no evidence to show the said firearm was loaded with bullets. His Honor finally decided to refer the case for the decision of the Appeal Court, as he was undecided whether the verdict returned was an ordering of the acquittal of the prisoner. During the afternoon the Grand Jury returned no bill against Isabella R. Dick, charged with the larceny of goods, the property of J. H. Sutter.
