I -liter several good runs on both sides, in I which Caverhill, Ferens, Holdsworth, Rollund, and Hardy appeared prominently, Grenfell again touched-down for his side, but the try was ineffectual. The Captain's side made several rallies, but with no successful result. Hardy, after a good run. succeeded in adding a touchdown to the Deputy-Captain's score, and shortly afterwards Itolland did likewise. The Captain's side again made a vigorous effort to score, but their assaults were successfully repelled, and followed up until Thomson secured a touch-down for the Deputy-Captain's side. This completed the score, as far as that ■-ide was concerned, but with a determination to do or die, they ran the ball down to the other end, and j within a few minutes of each other two •ouch-downs were scored by Honour and | Holdsworth respectively. Tims the j game was won by the Deputy-Cap- | rain's side, which scored one goal ; and five touch-downs ; the Captain's side making two touch-downs, leaving the former victorious by one goal and three touch-downs. Considering that this is only the beginning of the season, some of the members showed very good form. A few " mauls in goal " enlivened the proceedings. We are informed that a liat of matches is being arranged, and. should the members turn out well, most inteivsring play is anticipated. Wi would suggest to our local kickists tin advisability or emulating the example of their brother " knights of the ball " in D.iniedin, by going in for training, an> so qualifying themselves to hold tlieir own in foreign matches. Mr. Blackbnrne has signified his consent to retain the. secretaryship for the year.
