ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING MAIL. g tßt —Through the columns of your valuable journal I would desire to call the attention of those whose duty it is to lookafter such mutters to the very dangerous condition of that part of Hull-street leading down into [tehen-strect, namely, the steps—where, on a dark night,_ strangers. or even those accustomed to going up and down, run a very great risk of losing lifter limb, simply from the fact of there being no light to make them aware of the existence of steps, as it is <[iiite impossible for those endowed with ordinary powers of vision to see them, and, were they not made aware beforehand, must inevitably come to grief. Now, sir, I think that those whose dnty it is might see their way clear to place a lamp at the foot of the said steps. -which could be done at a very trilling expense, as the gas main already passes within a few inches of where the lamp ought to be placed, and by so doing confer a great boon on the inhabitants of the locality. If this is neglected I feel sure yon will have the pain of recording in yonr columns the occurrence of some most heartrending accident at this spot. Hoping my letter may have the desired effect, I am, &c, Caution.
