RIFLE MATCHES.

The members of No. 1 Company fired in the matches against the Riverton Rifles, the Bruce Rifles, and the North Dunedin Rifles this morning. The weather was far from being favorable for good shooting, a strong wind blowing across the range from the right, making it necessary to allow a considerable amount of windage. This was more particularly noticeable at the 600 yards' range, when the marksmen had to aim off the target altogether. Despite this drawback some capital scores were made, the shooting of Volunteer M'Corkindale being worthy of particular mention, The conditions were somewhat different in the match with the North Dunedin Rifles, as compared with those against the Bruce and Riverton Rifles, the ranges in the latter case being 200, 400, and 500 yards, and in the former 200, 500, »nd k 6OQ
