The Gensus returns for the city and suburbs are as follows: —Auckland Borough, City East 4262; City West 9470 ; shipping 833 ; total population within the borough boundaries and shipping, 7737 males, OS2B females j total, 14,565. Suburbs—Parnell, Newjiiarket, and Renin era, 4633; Grafton 474; Newton, 3512 : Epsom, 1698. Total for city and suburbs—males, 14,936, femalss. 14,226 ; grand total, 29,162. Onehunga Borough, 2143. The increase in Auckland and i
suburbs, as compared with the census of 1874 is 4052. In addressing the settlers at Hamilton, Sir George Grey said it was the .intention of Government next session to intirdduce.a Bill to tax land according to value, for which, purpose it will bejdivided into,th£&o: classes, 1 first, and'' third. ; - He wai entertained at abanquet at Te Awamutu. The King hasjiient two more invitationsfor a meeting, but bwing ; to the difficulty of Qbtaining sufficient food for the gathering of-Natives that will assemble to meet the Premier and Native Minister, the meeting has been postponed until the 30tli inst.
