Permission was granted to Mr. J. Dunn, on'-the application of Messrs. Hislop and Creagh. to transfer the lease of section 7, block XCIII., to Air. J. Finnie; and Mr. A. Maude tn transfer the;lease of section 20, block XXIX., to Mr. J. K, Anderson.AS letter was read from the Treasury, intimating tliat the sum of L(J47 2s. had been paid into tiie bank to the credit (if the Municipalitj'. The particulars showed that' the sum of L 372 19s. Cd. had been deducted from the subsidy as the Borough contribution in aid of the maintenance of hospitals and charitable institutions. Mr. H. Shires applied for the lease of Municipal section 5, block LXXIY.—It was decided to sell the lease of the section by publio auction at the upset price of L 5. It was . also resolved, to. offer the lease of section 4, block LXXVIII., at the same upset prico. The following tenders were then opened : Fencing part of reserve A, near the flagstaff; Pilkerton and York, LBB ss. ; Thomas Hastie, L 42 15s. i John May, L 49 9a. Messrs. Pilkerton and York's tender was accented. The tender of David Heron for j gravelling Cross-lane, Reed-street, and : Cermet-street (L7l 10s.) was accepted. ; Messrs. Julius and Balmer, Solicitors to the Corporation, wrote forwarding a fair copy of the lease of the land let to the Baths Company ; and the Engiueor forwarded the I plans of the laud, —The deed and plan were approved o.f, Accounts to the amount of LIS94 were passed for payment. Councillor Procter, in accordance with a notice of motion, then moved, *' That the fee phfvrgeil for the transfer of leases of Municipal sections be reduced from LI to 55." The motion lapsed for the want of a seconder. It was resolved to refer the consideration of the reduction of day labor to the Reserves and Publio Works Committees for report. Councillor Proctor stated that ho had been requested to bring under the notice of the Council the necessity for having a lamp placed at each end.of Harbor-street.—After some discussion, it was decided to refer the matter of increasing the number of lamps in the town to the Gas Committee to report. Tho Council thou went into Committee to consider several matters in connection with the Waterworks, aiul the Tress representatives were excluded.
