COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.
TTMARU. This morning's Herald reports as follows : •«We note large quantities of grain coming into town, bat find that farmers are generally storing a considerable quantity of •wheat on their own acconnt. This i 3 partly owing to the weakness of the market, buyers not being inclined to operate largely over 4s per bnshel. The price of oats is still ruling high, but many outside orders having been completed, there is not so much inquiry, and we quote—3s to 3s Id. In barley there is little offering of good quality, and prices range from 3s 3d to 4s 3d."
MELBOURNE MARKETS. The New Zealand and Mercantile Agency Co. report under date Melbourne, 13th March, IWS, as follows: . . The market for wheat and flour is still m a very unsettled state, and a further reduction in prices has again to.be reported in wheat and Sour, the former 2d per bnshel, and the latter 2s ffd to ?s per ton lower.
■WHEAT. The arrivals by rail show a falling-off as compared with the" previous week. A large portion is for millers'aconnt, and a considerable quantity has gone into store. The quantity offering in the open market is not large, but buyers evince no disposition to operate in the face of a declining market in London, and were it not for the Sydney and Queensland orders in hand prices would have gone lower. We quote as 4d to 5s 6d for good to prime, and at these rates business has been done.
