The p.s. Samson, Captain Jones, arrived in port at the usual hour on Sunday, having left Port Chalmers at half-past 10 o'clock in the morning. >he brought a large number of passengers and 3o" tons of cargo. The schooner Dunedin. Captain Connor, tailed on .""aturday evening for Wellington, with 930 sacks of Hour and grain, shipped by '•'essrsl Hay and Birr. The brii'aiititie Ethel. Captain M'Leod, cleared at the Customs to-day for Timaru in ballast, and will sail this evening. > s he will load there with produce for Auckland, the barque Caharfeidh having tak"n up all the freight at t re-ent in Oamaru for that port. It. is expected that the three-masted schoone- Co.rmn, Captain Bishop, will complete discharging her cargo of coal to-mor-row. The big Fawn will then be hauled a!' riL'sid • the wharf to discharge the cod brought by her for the railway department. The l.a'qu- Caharfeidh is filling' up with grain, and will complete her loading in thcourse of a few days. She will take a very eari;o of grain, Ac., from this port for Auckland.
The s.s. Waitaki is due here at 1 p.m. to morrow.
