RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
THIS DAY. Before G. Scmftee and S. E. Shruieki, Eeqrs., J.P.'s.} DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. James Hogan, for being drunk and disorderly in Thames-street at an early hour this morning, was fined 205., with the option of going to gaol for three days. ILLICIT STILL. James Watson, was charged on a warrant issued by the Collector of Customs at Hokitika, with having had, in conjunction with others, an illicit still in his possession in or about November last. Sub-Inspector Smith said he had received instructions from Hokitika to ask for the discharge of the accused, the principal witnesses in the case having left the district. The accused was discharged accordingly. FIGHTING AND RESISTING THE POLICE. Robert Davis and Daniel Coller were charged with fighting in Itchen-street last night. They pleaded guilty to the soft
impeachment, and were eacli fined 10s., with the alternative of forty-eight hours' imprisonment. The prisoner Coller was also charged with resisting Constable Johnston in the execution of his duty. The evidence of the- constable having been taken, the Bench fined accused 205., with the optiou of five days' imprisonment.
