THE OAMARU HOSPITAL.
TO THE KIUTOR OF TIIK EVF.NINC MAIL. Sill. i perceive a letter in your contemporary this morning signed " A Subscriber," very justly complaining of 11nsubscriptions to the Hospital not being acknowledged. Sir. I endorse every wort I in that letter. I myself paid my subscription the beginning of January, and hold tho collector's receipt, but it has never been acknowledged. Considering that the secretary and c illeclor are 1«>!.!i paid otlicers, it, is not too much to expee' that some satisfaction should ho given lo the subscribers that their money reached its intended destination. Another thing 1 would take the liberty of mentioning A book should be kept showing a. list of the subscriber* to the Hospital since its commencement to the present time, and flie amount paid by each subscriber. Perhaps you can inform me if such a book has been kept by the proper ollie.e.r (who is paid for doing his duty to the Hospital and its subscribers) or not / If no such book has been kept, why is such neglect | tolerated by the committee ? I have been informed that many of our gentry have subscribed largely to the funds of the Hospital, but 110 traces can be found of their donations. Is this so ] if the business of the Hospital is so mismanaged as reported, a change is absolutely necessary to restore confidence to the public.---! am. <£c., Anotijku Srn.si:i;n;int. February 2S. IB7S. | Our correspondent doubtless will agree with us that it is not our business lo catechise the ollicers of tho Hospital as to I their method of book-keeping. A list of the subscriptions was published in the I Maii, on January Kith.—En. E.M. I I
