. «. (PER MAZEPPA, AT AUCKLAND.) Auckland, February 25. The Mazeppa has arrived from Fiji. She reports the wreck of the German barque Helena, on the Island of Mereki, Fiji. H.M.S. Sapphire has gone to Samoa, with Governor Gordon. William Hennings has secured the contract for the copper and cotton taxes. Messrs. Chamberlin have purchased the Island of Naitamba. The threatened rising amongst the natives has been settled without bloodshed. Several natives have died from fish poisoning, through eating chiuevas, a kind of sardine. The sale of spirits to natives lias been suppressed.
