orderly in Thames-street last evening, paid a tine of 15s. Klizabeth Johnston, alms Anderson, charged with being drunk and disorderly last night in Ribble-street, was ordered to pay a tine of Ills., or to go to gaol for 4S hours with hard labor.

At a meeting of the North Otago Turf Club, held last evening at tiie Empire Hotel, the Secretary announced the weights for the handicap?. It was arranged that the sale of the privileges should take place on the 23rd inst. Messrs. Andrew Bell, Joseph Johnston, and C. A. Harris, were proposed and elected members of the club.

A special meeting of the Oarnaru Schools Committee was held at four o'clock yesterday at the Secretary's otiiee. There were present—Messrs. Steward (in the chair), Fleming, dihbs. and Headland. The annual match between the cricketers of Timaru yml Oamaru will be played on Friday next, on the Oamaru Clubs ground. The following players have been chosen to practice for the match :- Messrs. Taylor, and Tempest. !t is to be hoped that a regular course of practice will be gone through daring the next few days, in order that the team chosen to represent Oamaru may be able to maintain the reputation of the district.

A meeting of the Hospital Committee, for the transaction of general business will be held at Mr. Church's office on Tuesday evening, at S o'clock. A dramatic treat of a very high order will be afforded the people of this district on Monday evening, when Mr. Sothern. in conjunction with Mr. Hall's excellent company, will appear at the Masonic Hall.
