(run press agkxcv.) * WELLINGTON. February 4. Michael Cos'ello, formerly a Provincial messenger, has again attempted suicide by cutting his throat under the influence of drink. February 4. Sir G. Grey and party have just lef here. A large number of King natives came down to see him off, also a number of Europeans, who cheered him as he departed. The Primer, tue Native Minister, and party on their arrival at Te Awamuiu w. re received with cheers. A largo number of setrb rs present, d an address congratulating Sir George Grey, who replied. A deputation, consisting of the Chairman of the Poad Board, Mr. Sloane, and others interviewed the Premier, enquiring if it was true that the railway was to lie leased to private parties ; if so, they were of opinion that it would not be advantageous to the district. Toe Premier replied that lie was not aware of any sue:; arrangement being contemplated. They might depend that nothing of the kind would be done by private tender. ; TIMARU. February 4. It is understood that a telegram has been received from the Government by the Timaru Harbour Board to-da.y to the effect that the former cannot consent to the commencement of a mole in the harbour till plans and specifications are drawn np, and forwarded to the Royal Commission for approval. It is hoped that the Harbour Board will get this done as soon as 2'ossible.
