The Acclimatisation Society's report expresses a regret that, in consequence of a new Society having been formed in the Oamaru District, it has not been able to give that attention to distribution of stock in the northern district of Otago it could have wished. The City Council meets at 7 p.m. in future, instead of 2 p.m. The County of Peebles' passage from London occupied 8G clays, including 12 days' buffetting in the Channel. She is the first four-masted full-rigged ship that has ever visited this port. From Cape Lenwin to the Snares she lodged on an average of 320 miles a dav. Her best day's work was 337 miles in 24 hours.
