RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

THIS DAY. (Before T. W. Paukkii, V.a<\., K.M.) STRAY CATTLE. The following persons were lined in the amounts set opposite their names for allowing cattle to wander at large : Thomas Patterson, one marc and foal, 10s; Patrick Corcoran, two horses, 10s; William Williams, one cow, 5s ; John Thornton, tethering a horse in Hullstreet, 7s 6d ; Benjamin Glass, one horse, 2s Gd ; William Christie, one cow, ss. DKUNK AND DISORDERLY. Frederick Booth, c uirged with being drunk and disorderly in Thames-street on Saturday morning, pleaded guilty. There was another charge agaiust the same prisoner for using profane language on the same occasion. The evidence of Constable Donovan and Alfred V. Johns having been taken, his Worship inflicted a fine of 40s, with the alternative of 10 days' imprisonment. Christopher Stevens, charged with being drunk and disorderly .n Thames-street on Saturday, did not answer to his bail, and was fined in the amount of his bail. | William Hamilton pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly m Tynestreet at an early hour on Sunday morning, and was lined 10s. .Robert Malum, charged with being drunk and disorderly in Tyne-street at an early hour on Sunday morning, did not answer to his bail, which was ordered to be estreated. CREATING M.STURBANCE. Richard Bealty, charged with creating a disturbance in Thames-street on Saturday evening, pleaded guilty and was fined 20s. BREACH OF COBPOKATION BYE-LAWS. Alexander Davidson was charged with being absent from his horse and vehicle in Thames-street on the 14th instant, contrary to the Corporation Bye-laws. Tho defendant pleaded guilty, but said he was only away from his cart about two minutes. His worship inflicted a line of 10s. THE DOG NUISANCE. Henry Slock was charged, under the Town and Country Police Ordinance, with being the owner of a certain female dog which had, on the sth January, attacked a child named Samuel Burns, in a public highway, at Kakanui, and with unlawfully suffering the said dog to be at large. Sub-Inspector {-Smith prosecuted, and Mr. Balmer appeared for the defandant, who denied the charge. Mr. Balmer said the only witness whom the defendant could call was Mrs. Stock, who would be unable to appear fur some time. After some discussion the Bench agreed to adjourn the case until the 18th February.
