FIRE AT WELLINGTON.

A fir < broke our, this afternoon in a budding int.einli.Mt for :in hotel, tint which failed to nbviin a license, just opposite the railway station. In the meantime, the hotel a.i<l two adjoining building's were burned don*n. The flumes, blowing across the stive*-, set tire to the Railway Station, which, along with the offices of the District Engineer and Traffic Manager, was very soon destroyed. .None of tie carriages or other rolling stock was injured. The H lilway Station was valued at about LIOOO, ami the other buildings at LI2OO or LISOO. The hotel was occupied until yesterday, when nearly all the effects were removed. The hotel and buildings \rere insured ii} the National for LoOQ and in the New Zealand for LloQ. The origin of the lire ig unknown. A. few lnuiutesi after tha alarm was given the building was all in flames. Had a proper supply of water been on the Railway Station would have been saved.
