On and after January the Oth, mails will close as follows : For Dnnedin and intermediate effaces dailv, at 6 a.m. For Maheno daily, at 6 a m. and 2 p.m. For Kakanui daily, at 2 p.m. For Papakaio and Duutroon daily, at 3.45 p.m. For Awamoko on Tuesday and Thursday, at 3.-15 p.m. For Maerewheima, Upper Ferry, and Omarama on Tuesday, at 3-45 P-m. For Pukeuri and Waitaki daily at G a.m. For Waimate, Tiniani, Christchurch, and North daily, at (J a.m. and 3.45 p.m. For Weston, Teaneraki, and Ngapara, dailv at 3.45 p.m. For Dunedin, l'orfc Chalmers, and South, per s.s. Waitaki, on Wednesday and Saturday, at 10 a.m.; per p.s. Samson, on Monday and Thursday, at 5.30 p.m. Mails for Australian Colonies, via Bluff, will close here on Wednesday, 9th hist., at 10 a.m. Letters may be registered during the ordinary office hours, and for despatch by any mail one hour before the closing of such mail.
