Bannerman batting splendidly throughout, and carrying his bat out for a scoie of 125, giving no chance. Horan made a rapid 53 in first-class style, and was finally caught, out. Garrett followed and added 4, and was then run out. 'Murdoch, t'ie next' man, was caught by Herdman after get ting into double figures. Blackham followed, meeting a similar fate, after scoring G. Spofforth, cleaned bowled bj' Morrison, 0. Gregory, caught out after getting a double; Boyle, like-
wise caught, only having added 3: Bailey made a quick 22 by good play, but was eventually caught: Kendall, the last man, wai clean bowled for 6. Total with extras, 2G7.
The Invercargill team were quickly disposed of in their second innings, all the wickets falling for 39 runs in an hour and a half. The' stumps were drawn at 5.15 p.m. The following is the score of the eleven :
