THIS DAY. (Uefore T. V. Paukkh, Esq., R.M.) BREACH 01'' FISJIALF, EMPLOYMENT ACT. J. H. Cleghorn was charged with the above offence. Mr. O'MuaghcTj who appeared for the defendant, stated that, although the girls had worked two hours over time, they had had two holidays since, which, he thought was more than a quid pro quo. His Worship fined defendant ss. f.llEAt.'H OF COKrORA'JTON BYE-LAWS. Benjamin Glass was charged by Mr. A. Toms with having left a horse and vehicle unprotected. The horse had bolted and done considerable damage. The defendant pleaded Guilty, but said he had paid L 5 for the damage done. — Fined 7s. fid, ABUSIVE LANGUAGE. Jane Campbell was charged by Isabella Kenny with -using abusive language. Mr. Balnier appeared for the complainant. Isabella Kenny stated that she lived in Dee-street, and that on the 4th instant defendant had called her a bad character, and had accused her husband of keeping a disorderly house. She wished to have defendant bound over to keep the peace. The defendant denied using the language imputed to her, and said whenever the complainant and her husband got drunk they insulted her. The language they used was disgusting. Witness handed the Magistrate a document signed by several neighbours corroborating her evidence with regard to the disorderly conduct, of the complainant. His Worship dismissed the case.
