{ vim I'iiivss agency. ] January i). Tho cricket match—Australian Eleven v. Twenty-two Invereargill men commenced at 1.2.45 to-day. The latter won the toss and went in. The weather was not at all favorable, a strong S.W. wind accompanied with squalls blowing. The Twenty-two were disposed of for 89, of which" 8 were byes, and 0 leg-byes. J. Wesney for Invereargill scored 39 made by capital play. The Australians were unaccustomed to the cold weather. Spofforth's bowling all through was first-class, excepting in one or two instances. The fielding," however, was not so good. Gregory made two very fine catches. When the Invereargill men were all out the Australians scut in the two Bannermans to the bowling of Reade and Morrison. Bannerman being not out for 101. Horan was caught when he had made 53. Later. The Australian Eleven's innings closed for 267, Bannerman being not out for 120. The Australians will leave for Dnnedin overland to-morrow, and will play at Oamaru on Thursday next, and at Christchurch on the following Saturday. Evans will join them in Sydney, and goes Home with the Eleven.
