NORTH OTAGO TURF CLUB.

COMMiTTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Committee of the North Ot;igo Turf Club was held at the Emph'e Hotel last evening. There were present—Messrs. Steward (in the chair), Lumsden. Grant, Lintott, Robertson, Dooley, Longford, Sherwin, and Greenfield (Secretary). The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr. D. O'Brien asking the Committee to take his case into its favourable consideration and remove the disqualification from his horse Fishhook. The writer stated that the disqualification of hia horse had almost entirely ruined him both in pocket and reputation. He also said in conclusion—" I can assure you, gentlemen, that should your feeling be in my favour I will show you by my future conduct that I have in no way forgotten your clemency towards me." Some discussion took place upon the matter, during which the opinion was pretty generally expressed that sufficient punishment had been meted out. The letter was referred to the incoming Committee. A similar letter was read from Robert Derritt, the jockey, who was disqualified for the same offence, and was similarly dealt with. The following gentlemen were elected members of the Club : -Messrs. W. Gardiner, G. A. Sutton, A. Patei-son, W. Swanson, S. Newey, J, Markham, M. Taylor, C. S. Allen. This concluded the business, and the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Club was afterwards held, at which there were present, in addition to those at the Committee meeting—Messrs. Ronayne, Sutton, T. Evans, Thomson, Moss, Manning, Swanson, Paterson, W. M'Kay, Richardson, O'Meagher, Hardy, and M. Taylor. The minutes of the last half-yearly meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer (Mi 1 . Robertson) read the annual balance-sheet, showing that the Club had a balance in the Bank to start the year with of L 49 lis. Od. The bal-ance-sheet was adopted as read. The election of a Committee for the current year was then proceeded with by ballot, the following being the names of those elected :—Messrs. O'Meagher, Lintott, Grant, Sutton, Steward, Lumsden, Richardson, Thomson, Sherwin, Longford, Greenfield, G. R. Taylor, Dooley, Paterson, and Robertson. This was all the business before the meeting, and after the date of the first pieeting of the newlyelected Committee had been arranged, the meeting terminated.
