The concerts to bo given in Oamaru by Levy, the greatest of all cornet players, and his company appear to have created a little stir amongst the speculative portion of the community. We learn that Mr. Thatcher. Levy's agent, has received about half a dozen offers to buy the " houses," each of the amounts being considerably over three figures for the receipts of the two concerts. Mr. .John JVne.iugs has become the purchaser at a very handsome figure. The Committee of the North Otago Horticultural Society held their monthly meetinglast night. There were present—Messrs. Council (president, in the chair), Ireland, Spratt, Simpson, Stevenson, Lemon, J. Patcrson, and Leigh (lion. sec). The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, Mr. Patcrson was appointed Superintendent of the Hall on the day of the show. Mr. Stevenson having withdrawn, it was decided to request Mr. Lewis, of Timaru, to act as a judge in the class for pot plants and cut itowcrs. Mr. Earle's oiler to provide music at the show was accepted. It wr.s resolved—" That intending exhibitors send notice of their entries to the Secretary on or before the (nil December, in order that sufficient, staging accommodation may be provided." it was agreed that all members of committee should act as stewards on the day of show. Sinclair. R.L. Rule, E. Rowland. G. R. Taylor, M. 'Corkindale, T. Kennedy, A. Smillie,'l). Chalmers, H. B. Hook, D. Miller, D. Chalmers, Lawson, R. Wilson, and W. Aitken (secretary). It was decided to proceed with the printing of the programmes. The Band Committee reported that some new instruments would be required for .New Year's Day, and that the members of the Hand would willingly forfeit th- L4O due to them. The Committee advised that the Si ciety should supplement the 1.40 and pur--ha.so PS:) w.ir-'h of new instruments. ( 'ii the motion of Mr. Pule, seconded by Mr. Kennedy, it was resolved, "That the oiler of the Band be accepted with thanks." On the motion o Mr. Hook, seconded by Mr. Kennedy, it was resolved, "That L4O be at onee spent in procuring instruments, and that the Society supplement the sum with L4O when in funds." A Sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs. N. Fleming. G. P. Taylor, M 'Corkindale, I'".. Rowland, W. H. Konnyne, H. Abken, XV. M'lnto-di, and J. Sinclair, was appointed to canvass for subscriptions to purchase new in-truments. The meeting then adjourned. At a meeting of the Supper and Ball Committee it was resolved that the tickets be LI. After arrangements for the supper and ball were made, the Committee adjourned.
