LICENSING COURT.
THIS DAY. The quarterly sitting of the Licensing Court was held to-day, when there were present—T. W. Parker, Esq., J.l, M. (chairman) ; J. Reid, J. Udall, and J. 1). Burton, Esqs., J. P.'s (Commissioners). Town. Hotel Licenses Mr. O'Meagher ap]ilied, on behalf of Mr. William (xillespie, for a publicans' night~lie''iise for the Criterion Hotel in Tyne-street, which was granled.—Mr. Balmer, on behalf of Mrs. (iraee Suart, applied for a. night-license for the North Otago Hotel, for which an ordinary publican's license had already been obtained. The application was granted.—On the application of Mr. O'Meagher, the license at present held by Mr. John Dooley, for the Shamrock Hotel, was transferred to Mr. Edward Hudson.
Bottle Licenses. —The applications of Mr. Hugo Lippert and Mr. James Fa.milton. for bottle licenses for their stores in Thames-street, were refused. Mr. O'Meagher appeared for both applicants. —Mr. O'Meagher, on behalf of Mr. Thomas J. Bunting, applied for and obtained. a bottle license for a store in TJrestreet.—On the application of Mr. Balmer, a transfer was granted from Mr. W. H. Dansey to Mr. William M'Phorson of the bottle license for a store at the corner of Thames and Nen streets. Kakanui District. Hotel Licenses. Mr. O'Meagher aplied, on behalf of Mr. Robert Spence, for a license for the Teaneraki Hotel, Teaneraki. The application was not granted.— An application was made by Mr. O'Meagher for the transfer of the license of the Devonshire Hotel, Kakanui, from Henry Stock to William Walker. Tlu* Bench declined to grant the transfer. Papakaio District. Hotel License.—On the application of Mr. O'Meagher, the transfer of the license held by Mr. Roderick M'Kenzie for the Maerowiienua Hotel, Dun*roon ; to Mr. Arthur A. Smitn, was grann-d. 1 Bottle License.—-Mr. r. >ll ; behalf of Mr. William Bee, applied for a bottle license for a store at j which was granted.
