MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Municipal Council was lield at the Council Chamber* this morning. Tiierc were present—lli» Worship tlie Mayor, Councillors Procter, Spenee. Cook, intimating Unit Mr. Angus M'Donald had appointed Mr. John Jnmistoii to act as his arbitrator ia determining the iimount of compensation to i-e paid I im for damage Oone ti» his property at Awamoko through the construction of the Waterworks. Mr. Neil Fleming was appointed to net as arbitrator on behalf of the Corporation. APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEE. It was decided that the property purchased from Messrs. Gillies and (Street, and that at Georgetown, should be conveyed in trust to Messrs. Sumpler, Aitken, and Steward, the trustees for tlio Municipal Sinking Fund. a kjwormkk'n i.rttkr. Councillor Headland reported that the Gas Committee had purchased 2(H) cask* of cement in Timaru, to be delivered in. Oamaru at 2os. fid.—a much lower rate than it could be obtained from anywhere else. On the motion of Councillor Proctor,, seconded by Councillor Gibbs, the actiorn of the Committee was endorsed. CAS WOKKS. The Engineer was authorised to employ labor to construct the new tank at the. Gasworks. TEST STRUCT. The Engineer was instructed to complete the formation of Test-street tw thtt Breakwater road. The Council then rose*.
